Surveyor (Arboriculture)

JOB TITLE: Surveyor
REPORTS TO: Arboriculture and Compliance Manager
DEPT: Arboriculture

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carrying out tree health surveys, hazard assessments, visual tree inspections, risk assessment surveys and producing associated reports
  • Undertaking tree surveys and providing support to the arboriculture team in relation to the requirements of BS5837:2012
  • Specifying tree works in line with the requirements of BS3998:2010
  • Using a range of different survey tools including hand held computers and survey software such as GIS systems

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Have an understanding of key industry standards such as BS5837:2012, BS3998:2010 and current guidance on tree risk management
  • Be able to successfully identify a range of tree and shrub species as well as common tree pests and diseases
  • Hold a full driving licence as will the ability to work flexibly with regard to type of work, timing and location


Operations Manager (Environmental Services)

JOB TITLE: Operations Manager
REPORTS TO: Head of Operations
DEPT: Environmental Services

MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE:

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our Environmental Services Department, due to new business and existing contract awards. This is a permanent position.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of the Environmental Services Teams based geographically within the areas of Hertfordshire and North London/Thames.

  • You will be responsible for scheduling and monitoring of various activities of work, conducting review meetings with multiple client teams and leading on health and safety monitoring/compliance.
  • The teams will be working on various activities consisting of grounds/vegetation maintenance, pest control, arboricultural activities and weed cutting works.
  • The successful candidate will report to the Head of Operations (Environmental Services) on a regular basis by attendance of meetings and reporting on financials of the department of the business.
  • Ensuring teams are maintaining and utilising equipment/machinery correctly within the use of their activities.
  • You will need to have experience within the industry/activities of services The CGM Group demonstrates to its clients.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To provide onsite guidance and assistance to the Environmental Services Teams throughout the operating area of the business.
    Working with the Head of Operations to ensure compliance with Health and Safety, Human Resources and general company policies and procedures throughout the Company.
  • Overseeing the development of Team Leaders and Operatives and to hold their reviews in conjunction with company policy.
  • Working with the Environmental Services budget to ensure targets are on course to be met and achieved and expenditure is within budget.
  • To carry out on site safety auditing against ISO and OHSAS 18001 standards and carry out post works quality audits to ensure compliance with quotations submitted and in accordance with the client’s standards. Reporting of regular KPM’s.
  • Provide expertise and technical advice to the Bid Writer with technical knowledge and pricing skills on additional working tenders/quotations within the area.
  • Ensuring knowledge of current industry best practice and all associated knowledge is maintained at an excellent level by attendance at events/seminars and training.
  • Regular liaison with clients to continue to maintain and build new/existing relationships.
  • You will need to be prepared to attend any 24/7 emergency call outs or respond accordingly.

Person specification

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Packages, particularly Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and Project

Lead Workshop Mechanic

JOB TITLE: Lead Workshop Mechanic
REPORTS TO: Department Manager
DEPT: Workshop

MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE:

To lead the workshop team and being responsible for achieving high standards for the maintenance, repair, upkeep and service of various types of Horticultural/Amenity and Landscaping Equipment (mowers, strimmer’s, hedge cutters, chainsaws etc).

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To maintain, repair and service a range of commercial equipment from stand on and ride on mowers to strimmers, hedge cutters, line marking equipment and landscaping equipment
  • To ensure all machinery and equipment that is brought to you and your team is fixed and accurate records are kept in line with following the company’s procedures.
  • Ensuring all machinery and equipment that are used are clean and the operatives are reminded about the importance of regular checks.

Duties will include:

  • Repairing a range of machinery and equipment
  • Servicing of all machinery and equipment at the appropriate times
  • Keeping an accurate log of all repairs and the purchasing system, following all set procedures and systems of the Company.
  • Building a strong relationship with the company staff

Landscape Estimator

JOB TITLE: Landscape Estimator
DEPT: Projects

We are specialists in Landscape Management and Landscape Construction and have ambitious plans to grow this side of our business in 2019/2020. We are currently looking for a Landscape Estimator to come and join our Projects team and be a key part of this process. We are based in Downham Market, Norfolk and our landscaping projects typically cover the East Anglia area.

The Landscape Estimator will ideally have some Landscaping experience or a very strong Construction or Civil Engineering background & will have some experience of estimating software systems and possess good mathematical skills. Training will be provided for the proficient use of Clik4 software but a good knowledge of Excel would be an advantage.

The role will incorporate managing relationships with the designers, project managers, client teams and suppliers. There will also be an expectation that the successful candidate will liaise with clients, sub-contractors, suppliers and operatives.

The Landscape Estimator’s role will be office based and will offer administrative support to our Projects Operations Managers as well as other areas of the business when required.

  • Prepare and lead the compilation of tenders, depending on level of experience
  • Request plans and specifications from clients

JOB TITLE: Grounds Operatives – Positions in Norwich, Peterborough & Downham Market

We are looking for experienced operatives to join our ever growing team. The successful candidate will form part of our team who are responsible for achieving high standards in the Maintenance of a variety of sites. These include sports pitches, church yards, village greens, private & public gardens, community homes etc.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To operate a range of commercial equipment from tractors and ride on mowers to strimmers, hedge cutters and line marking equipment

Senior Arborist Manager

We are looking for an experienced Senior Arboricultural Manager to successfully develop and oversee the management of the Department.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of the following Arboricultural Departments which consist of Operations Management for Arboricultural Working, Surveying/Estimating and Administration Departments.

The successful candidate will report to the Head of Operations on a regular basis by attendance of meetings and reporting on financials of the department of the business.
You will need to have experience within Forestry and Utilities Arboricultural Sectors.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To provide onsite guidance and assistance to the above Management, Surveying and Arboricultural teams throughout the operating area of the business.

Working with the Operations Management to ensure compliance with Health and Safety, Human Resources and general company policies and procedures throughout the Company.

Overseeing the development of Management and to hold their reviews in conjunction with company policy.

Working with Arboricultural budget to ensure targets are on course to be met and achieved and expenditure is within budgeting guidelines.

To carry out on site safety auditing against ArbAC scheme standards and carry out post works quality audits to ensure compliance with quotations submitted and BS3998:2010

Provide expertise and technical advice to the Bid Writer with technical knowledge and pricing skills during the tender.

Provide expertise and ideas to attract new business and promotion of the department.

Schedule and ensure compliance and complete thorough examination of arboricultural climbing and rigging equipment to the requirements of LOLER 1998 (and any subsequent revisions).

Preparation and overseeing the CGM Trainee Arborist Scheme
Ensuring knowledge of current industry best practice and all associated knowledge is maintained at an excellent level by attendance at CPD events and training.

Meeting with the Arb Association Auditing External Panel to achieve the company’s continued status of the Arb Accreditation by providing necessary documentation and assisting and ensuring Arboricultural Operations Management are aware of the audits taking place in preparation for site visits.

Review and updating of our policies and procedures in conjunction with the Health and Safety Manager, Human Resources Manager and Finance Manager.
Regular liaison with clients to continue to maintain and build existing relationships.

Arborists

CGM Ltd is an Environmental Services Provider with an Arboricultural Association Approved Contractor department working throughout East Anglia. We are looking for qualified and experienced arborists and groundsmen to join our existing teams. Positions are available at our various depots throughout East Anglia carrying out a full range of arboricultural services to our diverse client base.

The following qualifications would be desirable alongside a minimum of 2 years practical experience

  • NPTC CS 30, 31, 38, 39, 40, 41
  • Full clean driving licence (With B+E or Pre-97 an advantage)
  • First Aid

Salary will be dependent on experience and skills.
